Research report: Sociocracy in schools

SOCIS is a European project funded by the Erasmus+ Programme (Key Action – 210 – Small scale partnership cooperation for Innovation and Exchange of Good Practices).

The duration of the project is 16 months, from 01/04/2022 to 31/07/2023, and is implemented by 2 European countries (Belgium and Austria). The partnership is made up of one school using Sociocracy (BOS school) and one organisation promoting Sociocracy (Soziokratie Zentrum).

The project has the ambition to support the development of sociocracy in European schools, in order to offer an innovative and democratic setting where every person in the school can have an active participation in decision-making and every voice is heard.

This Research is therefore the first fundamental step of the project to analyse the status of affairs in the European Union regarding Sociocracy in Schools.

IDEC@EUDEC Report

In August 2025, from 1 to 7 August, the European and International Conferences of the Democratic Education Communities(IDEC) converged in Belgium under the banner IDEC@EUDEC 2025. The venue was De Kluis, a youth residence in the forested area of Meerdaalwoud, in Sint-Joris-Weert, near Leuven. This marked the first time either of the two conferences has been hosted in Belgium.
