Heloo!

Helloo Arturo here again! 🙂

August was great, I had been anticipating my friend’s visit to Brussels for so long, I feel like August was the highlight of my summer! They came for a week a couple of days before my birthday, and it’s great how easily accessible Brussels is, even from London via the Eurostar! They booked their tickets ages ago and it really only took them about half an hour longer than what it takes them to do their daily commute to work, so it worked great for all of us! I had already been on the eurostar to/from London before and it’s just amazing how easily I get to see my friends :))

On their first day here, they were a bit tired after waking up early for the train and stuff, so we had a late lunch at Fish Tank in Marolles (if you eat fish, you have to try their fish burgers! 10/10 will go again). We checked out some shops with the perfect sunny weather, walked around a bunch and had an early night. The second day, we went to Antwerp for a daytrip and had Liege style waffles (the superior type of waffle!), and we went to a huge park to do some bird watching, as my friends have recently become obsessed with it!

The third day was definitely the highlight of the visit. We went on a super nice hike up the Ninglinspo river near Aywaille, and despite being peak summer, it was just a little bit chilly, drizzling a little bit, foggy, and the leaves were all starting to turn yellow and fall. It suddenly felt like autumn after such a long time of sunny, super warm days! Walking up the river, crossing bridges and finishing at a magical mossy-green forest was so nice. Of course, we did a lot of birdwatching here too!

OH! And we saw a super cool endangered lizard too, look at him! ^

We had been walking A LOT throughout the trip, so their lat day, before they caught the Eurostar around 8pm, we spent it doing touristy stuff in Brussels. Sorting out souvenirs for their coworkers, and having some authentic belgian food, including the nicest onion and cheese soup (which may or may not have been devoured before taking a photo) in Place de Jeu de Balle, which was so comforting with how bad it was raining that day! They also gave me the best early birthday gifts ever!

During the month of August, I also worked on some short videos for the past YOUDEX Student panel, that ended up doing super good on social media, and created the website and layout for our final member forum in September, on ecology! Although it was one of the slowest months, with many of us taking most of our holidays or working remotely, it still felt fruitful and I was happy about the work I did :’))
