Seeds of Change: Climate Justice and Tools for Action in Schools

Wednesday 5th of June 2024 at 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM (CET)

Open to QUEST members and non-members!

On the occasion of World Environment Day, QUEST is hosting an online seminar on climate change in the framework of its Member Forum on Nature and Sustainability.

The Office for Climate Education is offering an interactive workshop, where participants will be guided through an activity on climate justice that can be implemented in the classroom. The format of the activity encourages participants to step back from the physical aspects of climate change and reflect on the unequal risk exposure to climate change, as well as the impacts of individual choices and national policies on greenhouse gas emissions.

Through immersive role-playing games, participants will uncover the inequalities that exist between countries with respect to wealth and greenhouse gas emissions. They will also understand that vulnerability to climate change is not the same for all countries – the most responsible not always being the most vulnerable.

Following this workshop, we will share additional tools and resources developed by the Office for Climate Education (OCE) to support comprehensive climate education. These resources are free to use, are available in multiple languages, and include ideas and guidance for understanding climate science, implementing sustainable actions within schools and engaging the wider school community in climate initiatives.

This workshop will be interactive, we therefore encourage participants to check that they have a well functioning microphone and camera.
