Hello everyone
I am Fabiana, and March marked the beginning of my journey as an ESC Volunteer with QUEST. Starting has been a whirlwind of learning and discovering – so much to take in! From how the organisation works, the projects in motion, the people involved, and the sociocratic values that guide everything. It was a bit overwhelming, but the QUEST team has been incredibly welcoming and supportive, always ready to share with me what they know. My role focuses on project support and communication, so I’ve been slowly digging into everything from social media strategies to Erasmus+ project timelines.
One of the first significant moments I had the opportunity to witness was the kick-off meeting for YOUDEX (Youth Democratic Experiences) on March 17th. It was energising to see different partners from Europe come together to officially start this new Erasmus+ adventure. YOUDEX aims at collecting and amplifying stories of young people’s experiences of democracy in everyday life—whether that’s in their schools, families, or communities. It’s a project that really focuses on sharing and promoting real stories, lived experiences, and youth agency. I can’t wait to see it unfold.
Just a few days later, Mia and Elena hosted the first Membership Info Session of 2025. It was a chance for both new and returning members to reconnect with what QUEST has to offer. They talked about upcoming opportunities, shared experiences, and answered questions.Â

In April, as part of the YOU Care Project, Elena, Pamela, and Mathilda, travelled to Lithuania along with our partners: Love and Care for People, Innovative Generation, Felcos Umbria, and For You Bulgaria. The youth exchange focused on eco-anxiety, youth participation, and environmental action. Young participants co-facilitated workshops, reflected on emotions linked to the climate crisis, and drafted policy proposals for the upcoming Green Youth Council in Brussels this autumn.
Behind the scenes, work is also moving ahead on EUDEC@IDEC 2025, the big democratic education conference happening this August in Belgium. Though it’s still a few months away, there is so much dedication and creativity going into making it a vibrant and participatory event. We were also incredibly honoured to be joined by Amukta Mahapatra, founder of SchoolScape, and a true pioneer in democratic education. Her insights and presence added real depth to the conversation on democratic education.
More soon,
XOXOÂ
