ESC

The European Solidarity Corps is an Erasmus+ project financed by the European Union. The initiative offers young people (18 to 30 years old) the opportunity to contribute to society, make a difference and gain valuable experience through volunteering, traineeships and projects across Europe. The aim is to promote solidarity and social cohesion among young Europeans, and to foster their active citizenship skills. Meet our ESC volunteers!

Mathi - our team new

Mathilda Diaz

Salut! My name is Mathilda, I’m 24 years old, and I’m French-Colombian. After completing studies in the field of ecology, I chose to volunteer with QUEST to learn about knowledge transmission in a constantly changing world. As policy and research assistant, I also hope to gain experience in advocating for quality education as a powerful vector for social transformation!

Agata - our team

Agata Bernatek

I am 22 years old and I graduated in the field of Communication Design.  I work with QUEST as a communication assistant in order to create, explore and gain experience with the specifics of NGO communication, branding and graphic design. I also hope to learn how to manage an Erasmus+ project for quality education as a forerunner of change.

Sara - our team new

Sara Bentass

Salam! I am Sara, I am 25 years old, I am Moroccan and I come from Italy. I am studying International Relations at the university of Milan. I came to Brussels because of the huge opportunities this city offers! I have always been passionate about the impact of education, and how much change it can bring. That’s why at QUEST I want to learn how to manage an NGO and how to write European projects.

Dario - our team new

Dario Cabornero Boch

Hola! My name is Darío, I'm 24 years old, and I am Spanish-Cuban. After completing my studies in the field of Political Science, I decided to become a volunteer with the ESC.  The decision was easy, QUEST gave me an opportunity in a city that I like and in a project that gives me the chance to do something different. As an administrative and fundraising assistant I expect to gain experience and get to know how an NGO such as QUEST works from the inside.

what they say

Volunteering for a year at QUEST was a learning journey all the way. It enabled me to better define my path in the areas that interest me (education and ecology), to consolidate my skills in advocacy, sociocracy, project writing and implementation, and to gain an insight into the complex and fascinating world of alternative pedagogies. I am very grateful to have been able to witness and participate in the fast evolving processes of the NGO, in a caring working atmosphere.

My adventure as a ESC with QUEST was a beautiful journey where I had the opportunity to learn how to bring a project to life, reflecting on education and its transformative potential. As a volunteer I was able to gain an overview of all the NGO operations, participated in trainings and cooperated with an amazing team. This experience has been of great inspiration for me!

Participating in the European Solidarity Corps is always an adventure; it's a gamble where you're not sure how it'll turn out, but you decide it's the right time to take the plunge. Spending eight months in Brussels with an NGO specializing in democratic education didn't seem like the perfect fit for me, but I can confidently say that it has been an experience from which I've learned things I never imagined I would, and I've had the opportunity to meet people and visit places that wouldn't have been possible otherwise. It's not just about the professional experience and knowledge I've gained from QUEST, but also about the treatment I've received, the people I've met, and, above all, about being introduced to a completely different world of which I was previously unaware. Eight months at QUEST offered so much, but for me, it felt too short. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!
